Student Affairs and Services (SAS) Director Dr. Myra Pilpa affirms that list of official enrollees for first year students will be released on the 3rd week of July.
In an interview by The Courier, Dr. Pilpa confirms that the estimated number of students for this year’s enrollment remains at 3,000 based on the absorptive capacity, this is despite the influx of applicants reaching to an approximate of 8,000 aspiring Norwesians.
However, she clarified that some changes will occur particularly on the number of students per program due to compliance for the Regional Development Council (RDC) requirements.
“Yana may changes because of the RDC requirement nga kinahanglan CHED priority sira na course.”
This means that only those that are included on CHED’s list of priority programs are fit to expand its capacity to 2-3 sections or 100 to 150 students per program. Meanwhile, those that are not priority will settle to 1 section.
‘NEW ENROLMENT PROCESS’
According to Dr. Pilpa, the university has implemented a new enrollment process this academic year to avoid the recurring issues that delays the start of classes.
She mentioned that the students must follow the Facebook pages of every college to update with the release of results.
Moreover, she assured that student whose admission ratings qualify to their preferred programs are allowed to proceed to the interview as a requirement for the second level of screening which are posted from the different colleges.
“Ipopost san kada college [List of applicants qualified for second screening], makadto ka yana didto san schedule nga interview nga inpost san sa college, and then kahuman siton, magraranking nalat an sa college, igkakadi na sa amon an ira final qualifiers, tsaka na ak magpopost san whole qualifiers”, Dr. Pilpa explaining the new process of admission for every college.
Meanwhile, Dr. Pilpa explained that applicants who failed to qualify for the second screening from their first-choice programs are qualified to apply on other board and non-board programs only if their rating suits the program standards and there are slots available for shortlisted applicants.
She also clarified that only board passers who failed on the second screening from their chosen programs can apply on other board and non-board programs in the same or different college. Contrastingly, those students who passed non-board programs are only limited to apply on non-board programs as well.
Moreover, she emphasized that students must be decisive when choosing their programs for they can only apply once and request for changes in programs will not be advisable. This is to minimize the usual challenges encountered by the university for the past year such as double listing of enrollees and college hopping.
On the other hand, the university is expected to officially start the academic year on August 7.
The SAS Director advised old students to wear proper attire of uniform and ID’s and for the new enrolled students, they are obliged to bring their COR and are recommended to wear white T-shirt while they are still preparing to provide the school uniform for only about 3 weeks.
